BITTINGAlice J. BittingSubmitted Alice Jean "AJ" Bitting died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at home.She was born Sept. 21, 1926, in the Harrisburg area to Gladys and Evan DeWitt Waters. She was a 1944 graduate of William Penn High School, and worked for Bell of Pennsylvania immediately following graduation. Once married, she moved to New York City with her husband, where she worked for N.Y. Telephone. After the births of two children and 24 years in New York, she and her family returned to Harrisburg where she worked for Dauphin Deposit Bank and eventually retired from Merchants and Businessmen Insurance in the early 1990s. She was an avid reader and took great pleasure in sharing the title of ultimate spellchecker and wordsmith with her sister Shirley. She was the widow of Robert L. Bitting, to whom she was married 64 years.Surviving are a son, Todd A. of Harrisburg; a daughter, Lyn M. Bitting of Bristol, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard A. Waters, and a sister, Shirley R. Waters-Cree.A service was held Jan. 5 in Michael J. Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, with the Rev. Anne K. Myers officiating. Burial was in Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Marysville. "Ginny" Campbell of Juniata Parkway East, Newport, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at home.She was born May 3, 1935, at home on Walnut Street in Newport to Emmett W. "Woody" and Mary E. (Dunn) Crissman. She retired in 2005 from Newport Elementary School cafeteria, with 25 years of service, and, as a teenager, worked at the J.J. Newberry candy counter and later was hired at Pennsylvania Farm Bureau/Nationwide by referral of Virginia Lesh; and was a 1952 graduate of Newport Joint High School, where basketball was her sport of choice. Howard will be 6:00pm Thursday, January 17th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Pastor Jeffrey E. Smith officiating. Spring burial will be held in Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the funeral at the funeral home beginning at 3:00pm.Robert passed away Saturday, January 12th at Samaritan Medical Center. He was 60 years old.Born in Terra Haute, Indiana May 20th, 1958, Robert was a son to Charles and Nancy (Conway) Howard. He received his high school diploma from Big Ben Community College, and joined the United States Army. Following an honorable discharge, Robert worked as a C.N.A. at several hospitals throughout his career.On August 30, 1997 he married Shirley J. Carlisle. He enjoyed Pittsburg Steelers football, Steve Wilkos, and watching the I.D. channel. Surviving besides his wife, Shirley, and his mom, Nancy, are his children: Angela Misercola, Morgan Howard, Brianna Howard, Savanah Howard, Chelsea Howard, Jasmin Howard; a grandchild: Gabriel; and 3 siblings: Cindy Downey, Michelle Patchen, John Howard.
